Be sure to let all your friends and family know that you can recycle their old cell phones through the Think Recycle Program offered through DHSBA!! Don't forget to include all your ink and laser cartridges. Each item donated helps to reduce the waste in the landfill sites AND provides more funds for DHSBA to enrich the membership benefits.

STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE UPDATE
The SPC is getting set to start working in earnest on the 3-Year Strategic Plan this month and your ideas are needed as soon as possible! We want to welcome Lori Prentice as the new Chair and all of the previous members who have returned: Sue Sutcliffe, Tiffany St-Germain, Paul St-Germain and yours truly, Peter Cluff. Shortly, we will be breaking down membership and visitor information from prior years to see what trends they offer for Membership ideas going forward. We will also be looking at our competition, events, meeting formats, committees, and a load of other areas where we hope to improve our Association. This is where all Members come in. Please take a few moments to think about the things you wish the DHSBA would do with its membership [costs, benefits, other?], meetings [costs, formats, speakers, food, networking, other?], events [Trade Show, AGM, other?], awards [BOY, Betty Penny Scholarship, other?], committees and education. Then either go to the Strategic Planning section of the Forum to post your ideas or email them to me at "criticalpath@interlinks.net". Once the Committee puts together some basic ideas, we'll float these by you, the DHSBA Members, to see if you support them. After all, it is your Association. Please look for a Committee update in February. In the meantime, please have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season. Peter Cluff

Special Request
Letter from New Think Strategies to DHSBA From: Dean Perrin [mailto:newthinkstrategies@rogers.com] Sent: November 27, 2008 12:08 PM To: Sandra Cousins Subject: Looking for mentors HI Sandra, As explained I am assisting Meta Vocational Service in preparing to run a Young Entrepreneur / Mentorship program. - (Meta is a not for profit organization with over 25 years experience assisting people with disabilities, youth and the unemployed) I realize I can contact each member of the Durham Small Business Association individually, however I think it would be a great oportunity for your associaton to grow in the community, I would like your group to consider this opportunity to partner with Meta. I do not expect every one of your members to particiapte, however access to some of your membership would assist us in matching young entrepreneurs with similar minded successful people.
A mentor can be as involved as they want, by providing 1, 3 or upto 12 mentoring sessions for 1, 2 or 3 different youth. A session can be done via email contact, phone or in person. If interested the mentor can have the individual visit their place of work. Even though this is a volunteer commitment for your group, we both know that the time spent mentoring can be a very valuable experience to both the mentor and mentee. I look forward to having the opportunity to talking with you again very soon about this. With Sincere Appreciation As Always, Dean Perrin New Think Strategies - Accelerating Your Success - Business & Sales Training; Presentation & Speaker Training; Business & Personal Coaching; Consulting; Keynote Speaking. 905-431-3219 success@newthinkstrategies.com www.newthinkstrategies.com
