  • Currently LinkedIn has over 150 million business professionals. To effectively market to them, there are several key strategies that are critical to your success.. 
  •  These strategies, plus a lot more were covered in this fun and informative session! 
  •  Rob is an account manager with Search Engine People and runs Social Media Learning a social media consulting firm for small businesses.
  • He has been a presenter and public speaker for more than two decades.
  • Over the few last years, he’s been focused on speaking with small to midsized business on how they can use social media tools as part of their overall marketing. These has included presentations to various Boards and Chambers, and to small business networking groups.
  • Recently, Rob has lead social media learning sessions on behalf of the Town of Ajax for both small businesses and for Not for Profits.

“How to market yourself on a shoestring”

Tom shared how he advised entrepreneurs to set aside a modest budget of about $500-$2000 per year to market themselves and their expertise in non-traditional, yet very effective marketing media.

Examples included cold calling, networking, newsletters, print articles, seminars, webinars, podcasts, and so on. He also touched on his best practices on how to improve marketing and branding impact with such everyday things as “talking”, business cards, websites, brochures, social media, etc.

 Making the media work for you!

 In this session David will review the keys to a good media release, what makes a story compelling and what the media wants from you and how to get media for your business venture locally and around the world!

This session is for you if you want to know what is going to get the media attention you want for your business and you want to know how to approach the media with a marketing strategy in mind…and be sure to ask what the one cool secret you can tap into to get your business media exposure around the globe…it may surprise you as to how easy it is and it works!

David Cohen has been in sales and marketing since 1986. He has taught over 1500 clients through various government sponsored small business development training initiatives and programs. He is a business coach and facilitator working with new business start-ups in the Ontario Self Employment Benefit program in Whitby and headed up the Entrepreneurship Training Programs for Newcomers to Canada at the Learning Enrichment Foundation.

David is well known for his radio presence as host and producer of the Small Business Big Ideas Radio Show on CKDO 1580 AM and 107.7 FM in Oshawa.

The Town of Whitby is in the process of completing a review of the home-based business bylaw.
If you are a home based business this is your opportunity to provide your feedback and recommendations moving forward.

 

The Whitby Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a meeting to discuss these issues, get feedback and formulate desired or preferred solutions.
